The new Ångström laboratory

The new Ångström Laboratory brings together the technical and scientific departments of the university.

On May 13th this year, the new large extension of the Ångström Laboratory at Uppsala University was inaugurated. Building 10 includes lecture halls such as the Eva von Bahr hall with 320 seats, as well as the Sonja Lyttkens and Heinz-Otto Kreiss halls, each with 180 seats. All halls are named after prominent scientific researchers, many of whom are women whose research has been significant for the present.

The halls were delivered and installed by us during the summer of 2020. The seats have bamboo armrests and desktops with matte black laminate that is resistant to fingerprints, while other parts are painted in a muted gray shade, creating a sober impression. All seats have power outlets under the desktop in a power strip on the front of the chair, in the same gray shade as the rest.

The expansion of the Ångström Laboratory is the largest investment in premises in Uppsala University's history and increased the floor space by 30,000 square meters. With this, all technical and scientific departments of the university are brought together. The architect behind building 10 is PE Architects, who won the design competition in 1992.
